You can still grab iPhone battery replacement discount in 2019 with iFixit
Though the Apple’s $29 iPhone battery replacement deal ended in December 2018, but you can still power your iOS device with some extra battery on the cheap if you make the swap yourself now at iFixit
iFixit lately announced that it has extended it’s iPhone Battery Replacement Discount and will sell its DIY iPhone battery replacement kits for the discounted price of $30 through “at least” the end of 2019. The kits include all the tools you need to open up your Apple iPhone and swap out the old battery for a new one.
iFixit first lowered the price of these kits in December 2017 to match Apple’s deal, which ended at the end of 2018. The Cupertino tech giant now charges either $49 or $69 for an out-of-warranty iPhone battery replacement, depending on your model.
Apple reportedly replaced 11 million iPhone batteries during the $29 replacement program, which covered the iPhone 7, 7 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 6, 6 Plus, and SE. Apple launched the program at the end of 2017 as a mea culpa for secretly slowing down the performance of certain iPhone models to offset errors caused by the aging batteries inside. iFixit Director of Communications Kay Kay Clapp wrote in a blog post. That means “there are still hundreds of millions of affected iPhone owners who didn’t get a battery replacement or didn’t know they needed one.”
The iFixit Warranty
iFixit sells battery replacement kits for the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 6, 6 Plus, SE, 5c, 5s, 5, and 4s. All those kits are now $30, except for the 4s kit, which is just $16.99.
